NITDA, Tech Coys Seal Deal to Empower Budding Entrepreneurs

ABUJA: Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has signed an agreement with Flutterwave, a leading payments technology company, and Alami, a private limited liability company focused on empowering young entrepreneurs and SMEs.
This strategic partnership aims to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation and strengthen its economy.

The collaboration aligns with NITDA’s commitment to implementing the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) and ensuring SMEs have the necessary tools to thrive in the digital era. Key areas of focus include: FinTech innovation: Promoting digital payments and financial inclusion; digital literacy: Enhancing digital skills and awareness among Nigerians; infrastructure development: Improving digital infrastructure to support economic growth and open-source technology: Promoting the use of open-source technology to drive innovation.
The partnership will also focus on: Strengthening public-private; partnerships: Through digital payment infrastructure and technology financing;
Digital Nigeria Week 2025: Showcasing payment innovations, workshops, and panel discussions; empowering SMEs and startups: Providing resources and support to drive growth and innovation; Cybersecurity: Collaborating on initiatives to enhance cybersecurity and protect digital assets.
Speaking on the partnership, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, emphasized the significance of public-private collaboration in achieving Nigeria’s digital economy aspirations. He noted that Flutterwave’s innovative fintech solutions align with NITDA’s vision for a thriving digital economy.

“Slow digital adoption among SMEs has been a major obstacle to economic growth, and through this collaboration, we aim to provide businesses with the resources and infrastructure needed to transition into the digital age,” Inuwa stated.

Olugbenga Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to empower SMEs. “Many small businesses in Nigeria struggle to fully embrace digital solutions, and we believe that by providing seamless and secure payment technologies, we can help them scale with confidence.”
The collaboration is expected to have a significant impact on Nigeria’s digital economy, enabling businesses to leverage digital solutions to drive growth, create jobs, and improve livelihoods.
