Abuja – MTN Nigeria hosted a high-level breakfast meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, gathering officials from government ministries and agencies, heads of non-profit organizations, and other public sector stakeholders. The event aimed to educate top-tier individuals on the benefits of digital advertising and the vast possibilities offered by MTN Mobile Ads for businesses in both public and private sectors.

The enlightenment took place at a breakfast meeting with MDAs and Non-profit Organizations held in Abuja.
The attendees gained valuable insights on the opportunities for business growth and expansion with MTN Mobile Ads.
Speaking at the breakfast meeting, the MTN Chief Digital Officer, Aisha Mumuni, said with smart phones penetration in Nigeria currently at 44.4%, that is 82 million Nigerian having phones on their hands, has become ubiquitous and changed the way we interact, hence the need for the MTN mobile advertising. According to her, mobile advertising allow MTN to meet with people in the space they are already occupying.
Quoting a recent report on use of mobile phone, she millions of Nigerians spend a lot of time on their mobile phones and that the best place to enable both public and private enterprises reach out to their various audience, irrespective of their location or demographic.
Mumuni said that with the widespread use of smartphones, the opportunity to engage with people where they were most receptive had never been greater.
She said, ‘‘One of the most useful tools that we have in this 21st century is the smartphone, adding that mobile advertising allows us to meet people in the spaces that they are already occupying. It is not just about sending any message but about sending the right message to the right people at the right time, using data analytics. Using the data that we have, we can target specific demographics. We are offering public sector to use that information to target messages to the citizens. By using this approach, we can reduce cost, time and achieve effective communication at a specific time.
“With 81.2 million Nigerians owning smartphones, mobile phones have become an indispensable tool for communication, news, shopping, and socialising. This is unprecedented opportunity for the public and private sector to deliver timely, relevant information directly into the hands of the consumers and the people as they use that space.
“Mobile advertising is not just an opportunity, it is a responsibility for the telcos, public and private sectors to ensure that public service information is accessible, timely, and meaningful,” she Mumuni.
Presenting a preview of the MTN mobile Ads solution, the Senior Manager, Digital Advertising and Campaign, MTN, Eyitayo Amushan said the MTN mobile ads solution will enable public institutions to carry out their responsibility well and communicate directly to people through their mobile phones.
“In the middle of having all these people gather on different platforms, there are ways we can communicate to them directly to their mobile phones, which is just simply what mobile ads are all about. We have built those tech platforms, we have looked at the performance and we are also looking at the trend of the industry to see how we compete with other sort of advertisement channels.
“Which is why we said it was important for us to also engage the public sector and the public as well. The power of you being able to communicate to people, whether it is a promotion or you want to just sell your products and services or you want to create an awareness around your products, out there in the media space, is beginning to go on the rise,” Amushan said.
In her own remarks, the MTN Nigeria Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Linda Saint Nwafor, said Nigerians cannot afford to be left behind in embracing the emerging technologies like mobile advertising and urged businesses in the public and private sectors to leverage the novel technology to enhance their goods and services.
Nwafor stated that the Mobile Ads Solution was designed to drive efficiencies in business and is expected to improve engagement and accelerate growth.
