The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, in collaboration with key stakeholders, has convened the Stakeholder Forum on Accelerating E-commerce through Digital and Physical Infrastructure Integration. The event aimed to explore innovative strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s e-commerce sector through enhanced logistics and digital infrastructure.

In his welcome address, Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani emphasized the critical role of e-commerce in driving economic growth and regional trade integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA.
He highlighted Nigeria’s vast entrepreneurial potential and the need for a holistic approach to addressing logistical challenges, particularly in underserved and rural areas.

A major focus of the forum was leveraging NIPOST’s extensive network of over 1,000 post offices and distribution centers to support logistics and delivery across Nigeria’s 36 states. By integrating these assets with digital platforms, the initiative aims to create an efficient nationwide logistics network, making e-commerce more accessible and inclusive. This effort will enhance market access for businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises, SMEs, thereby strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy and boosting intra-African trade.

The forum brought together policymakers, private sector leaders, technology innovators, and logistics providers to develop a framework that positions Nigeria as a leading hub for e-commerce in Africa. Special recognition was given to Glovo, a key partner in advancing e-commerce solutions, for launching the Yellow Effect Report, which provides valuable insights into Nigeria’s e-commerce ecosystem.

As stakeholders engaged in discussions, Dr. Tijani called for collective action to unlock the transformative potential of logistics and digital infrastructure integration. “Together, we can build a thriving digital economy that empowers businesses, supports communities, and solidifies Nigeria’s leadership in regional and global digital trade,” he stated.
